Atlas Copco receives Red Dot award for product design 2012

After a long evaluation process by a 30-member expert jury, the Atlas Copco Tensor ES electric nutrunner received one of the coveted red dot awards for product design. Competition was fierce for the awards. Creative heads and manufacturers from all over the world had submitted a total of 4,515 designs.

The Tensor ES product family, partnered with the Power Focus 6-Series of controllers which was awarded a “red dot honourable mention”, is a user-friendly and intuitive industrial assembly solution. The tools provide error proofed tightening and low energy consumption.

A Product Range With A Strong Identity

The Tensor ES and Power Focus 600 provide error proofed tightening and low energy consumption.

To reflect their robust plug-and-play characteristics, the tools in the Tensor ES family have simple and geometric design elements, highlighted by the consistent use of chamfers and small radii. This gives the products a strong visual identity that differentiates them from their competitors. The sealed body design protects internal components from dust and oil.

The tools are well-balanced, pleasant to work with and have a number of ergonomic features. A rubber coating ensures operator comfort and reduces vibration, there are very clear LED’s visible through 360°, and the trigger and reverse mechanism are easy to operate.

Power Focus 6-Series Awarded “Red Dot Honourable Mention”

The “red dot honourable mention” carries the privilege of displaying on the product the “honourable mention 2012” quality seal, which stands for outstanding design and belonging to the best in the industry.

Controllers in the Power Focus 6-Series offer an intuitive human machine interface and are extremely user friendly, giving the operator clear feedback on the screen. The powerful industrial design gives a reliable process to maximize uptime and speed up tightening operations.

The Red Dot Design Award

With origins reaching back to the 1950s, the red dot design award is carried out in three disciplines: the “red dot award: product design”, the “red dot award: communication design” and the “red dot award: design concept”. In 2011 alone, more than 14,000 entries from over 70 countries were registered. The award – the red dot – has established itself internationally as one of the most appreciated quality seals for outstanding designs.
